Introduction

VShield is a security-focused browser extension designed to protect users from malicious and unsafe websites. Your privacy is extremely important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what data VShield collects, how it is used, and how it is protected.

Data We Collect

VShield does not collect personal information or track your browsing history.

The only data collected is the URL of the active tab, and only when the extension is actively scanning it.

1. Current Tab URL

VShield uses the browser’s currentTab permission to temporarily access the URL of the active tab when you initiate or enable real-time protection.

2. URL Sent to Backend

The current tab’s URL is securely sent to our backend server solely for the purpose of:

Checking the URL with the VShield Threat Intelligence Database
Verifying maliciousness via VirusTotal
Cross-checking with Google Safe Browsing (GSB)

How Data Is Used

The URL is used only for:

Detecting phishing pages
Detecting malware-hosting or unsafe pages
Generating safety scores or warnings

Data Storage

VShield does not permanently store the URLs you submit. URLs may be cached temporarily for threat analysis but are automatically cleared from the system.

Third-Party Services

VShield interacts with the following third-party security services:

VirusTotal – URL reputation check
Google Safe Browsing – Detection of malicious/phishing URLs

These services may process submitted URLs according to their own privacy policies.

No Selling or Sharing of Data

VShield does not sell, rent, or share any data with advertisers or third parties.

Security

Communications between the VShield extension and our backend server use industry-standard encryption (HTTPS + TLS).

User Control

You may uninstall the extension at any time to stop all data processing.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page.
